AGARTALA, June 5 (TIWN): No respite from garbage, dirtiness for Agartala Citizens eventhough AMC challenged to turn a clean city and launching various missions of garbage gathering. But since the decades the condition of Agartala City remained unchanged amidst boosting about AMC's various initiatives. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA), one of the flagship programme’s of the government, has heralded a change in the sphere of sanitation programmes in the country. Though India has made strides in improving sanitations standards, the dismal sanitation statistics for both rural and urban areas still leave much to be desired. Whereas state has seen Assam CM to clean Agartala's streets but Tripura Govt amidst various plans have remained totally failed to clean the City. During rainy season the situation turns worst, when due to water discharging machines non-working conditions the city garbage floats on rain water at the waist level.

The water log problem of Agartla seems unending with AMC’s failure to bring out 1 % of solution to the water log problem in the city. Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dr. Prafuillajit Sinha on the last year, claimed that before the Puja all the waterlogged areas of the city will be cleaned up and the problem will be sort out soon.

The step will bring a relief from temporary halt to all the government and non-government construction works, said Mayor during that time.

But surprisingly, after the passage of 1 year the condition remained as it is.

It was also claimed that from then onwards the cleanliness will be highly maintained, but Agartala town has remained as the centre for dust and pollution after 1 year.

According to the Govt. report, AMC has 14 pump machines operating in the entire Agartala whereas the Nagerjala area, since after the rain is suffering from  huge water logging.
