AGARTALA, May 15 (TIWN): Challenging that Koran does not prescribe any triple talak, BJP National President of Minority Morcha Abdul Rasheed Ansari said on Monday that in Quran it was said that you have right to give someone Talak but giving someone three times talak at a single time is not allowed in Quran. "People should follow Modi's policy that in one hand a young star will keep the koran and in another hand keep laptop", said Ansari. However, a rush of debate threw on Ansari's comment immediately at BJP Party office facing media questions whether he supports Triple Talak or not and whether he differs from his party view in Triple Talak. But Ansari said the Triple Talak should be seen as per Koran's angel and also 'enlightenment' is necessary with Education. However, Ansari further asked not to politicize the issue and wait for SC's verdict on it. However, Ansari's answer failed to satisfy the media question and a cloud of confusion is still hovering with his double meaning statement on Triple Talak. Ansari's statement also differed from Amit Shah's statement given at Gitanjali guest house. However Ansari said that he 100 % supports BJP's statement on Triple Talak.

National BJP President Amit Shah said on May-6 that Triple Talak is not fit for healthy society and it snatches the constitutional rights of a woman. It hurts the constitutional rights of women in Muslim society but the case is going on at SC which was filed by a woman.

On the background of Triple Talak debate erupted in India, it can be mentioned that that appearing as an amicus curiae, senior lawyer and Congress leader Salman Khurshid told the apex court on May-11, "The right and the responsibilities of a man and a woman in marriage under Islam are divided. Quran prescribes a three-month process for divorce giving opportunity for arbitration and reconciliation. We cannot understand the Islamic law by contrasting it to modern day sensibilities."

Appearing for the Centre, Additional Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said, "The key point is whether the right to religion is subject to restrictions whether it can violate fundamental rights."

The Supreme Court made it clear that it is not going to hear the issue of polygamy in the triple talaq case. The hearing will go on for seven days.
