AGARTALA, May 15 (TIWN):Citing example of recently booked 2 persons from Damchara in connection of Mizroam based drug smuggling, North SP Manik Das said that amidst tight checking, raids jointly by BSF / Police there is continuous threat from the outside state and selling of cheaper rates drugs. The drugs were reportedly importing from Mizoram, nabbed at Khedachara road under Damchara, when two persons named Joyjeet Das and Dataram Reang were arrested at Damchara with huge quantity of drugs recovered in an operation led by Damchara police. However, liquors, drugs manufacturing units in North Tripura has hit few areas as Panisagar, Damchara already and it is said that at Damchara market Mizoram people in a weekly market openly selling such items at a free pace. But, talking to SP North Manik Das on Sunday over phone he said, ‘North Tripura police on regular basis holding raids to control such activities there.

Just before 2 days, from Panisagar 2076 liters of liquors have been recovered'.

Asking about the Myanmar origin drug circulation in Tripura, SP said, the drugs were recovered there were no trade-mark. Thus it cannot be clearly said that from which corner the drugs are entering in Northeast India, he said. 

However, the drugs are given to foreign laboratory & only after chemical analysis it can be assumed from which part of India or Foreign these drugs are manufacturing. It’s worthy to mention here that Northern Tripura is becoming the hub for drugs,  additionally, arms smuggling and entrance of terrorists are rampant. Due the unchecked border, then Mizos free entrance via Longai River Bridge has hit the law and order or state Tripura.

Now trainway has emerged as the another corridor for drug smuggling.

A Silchar-Agartala train bearing number 05665 had reached till Panisagar on July month, via which smugglers sent brown sugar to Tripura. They were nabbed from Bhaja-Bazar, Silchar-Mizoram Border areas. Allegedly this four young boys are engaged in sending drugs via a train on Thursday to Tripura.

Within these last 2 months many criminals were held. While 30th Assam Rifles Btln, under P S Damchara at DhalaiDist  nabbed 2 persons red-handed while circulating fake notes worths 1 lakh on July 20th.

Then a week back, 4 smugglers were captured from Mizoram-Silchar border, in allegation of sending drugs to Tripura & other Northeastern states. Along with the arrested Police also recovered 8 syringes of drug samples, 102 blank syringes, 340 gram of brown sugar and Rs. 8,000/-.
