AGARTALA, May 12 (TIWN): Even though Modi Govt's Act East Policy have hiked the NE infrastructure allocations in the 14th Central budget but State PWD kept themselves busy in corruption .

After every one month the road is temporarily fixed at Matabari line, which creates much traffic jam during repairing, but due to the cheap materials used in the road constructions, the road again turns as it is.

National Highway 44, the only road connectivity that connects the mainland India with the eastern part of Meghalaya, Barak Valley in Assam, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura has for a long time now remained in a dilapidated condition posing a threat to the helpless commuters.

Traffic jam, accidents are happening regularly in the road due to its poor shape and allegedly, the condition of the NH-44 is worsening day-by-day due to negligence of PWD and the agencies assigned by the department.

There is no respite for city residents who were encountering problems because of potholes, and half-repaired roads in residential areas and in arterial roads.
