AGARTALA / UDAIPUR, May 11 (TIWN): Once again a critical accident took place on National Highway on Thursday, left one seriously injured.The injured person has been identified as Dharma Bijoy Jamatia, S/O-Aranyapada Jamatia from Maharani Hatichara area. The incident took place at Peratia Bazar, near Garji when a Maruti and a tipper vehicle with sands hit each other out of reckless driving. Getting informed police rushed to the spot and took the injured person at Gomati Dist Hospital. But seeing his condition critical Doctors immediately referred him to GB hospital. His condition has been reported as very serious.However, the eye witnesses said that the tipper car was in very high speed had hit the Maruti (TR030400).On the other hand the tipper drivers (No-TR01AB1775) has escaped from the spot. Police have seized the vehicle.
Road accident killed 25 people in Dec-January month in Tripura. Everyday 2 critical accidents reported in police stations, although Traffic Dept claims ‘radical down of accident rates’.
Amidst road safety week’s celebration in January month atleast 25 people were killed in Tripura in last Dec to January months.
In December 2016 the number of accidents were 40 and 12 people died out of this, whereas 41 people were critically injured. In 2017, Januray month out of 42 accident cases 13 people died whereas more 44 left injured seriously. Apart from that in 2015 only 158 people killed in road accident, whereas in 2014 188 people died. The number of accidents in 2014 was 716 and in number of accidents in 2015 was 647, revealing everyday 2 accidents held in Tripura.
