Sonamura, July 21 (TIWN): Acting on a tip-off raid, Sonamura sub-divisional administration and BSF troops led by SDM Sonamura- Subhasis Das recovered more than 4000 bottles of Phensidyle, Corex and Icon-XP from Thakurpara under Melagarh and Masterpara area under Sonamura police station, here today.
Based on secret information, a raid was conducted in the Thakurpara of Melagarh and Masterpara under Sonamura police station. During the search, troops recovered 1575 bottles of Phensidyle, 1260 bottles of Corex and a vast number of Icon-XP from two houses of the said areas.
The cost of seized contraband items were estimated as nearly about Rs 5 Lakh. Nobody was arrested in this connection. In presence of the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Sonamura- Subhasis Das, Assistant Commander of Border Out Post (BOP), Dhanpur - Ashu Ranjan Rai, Assistant Commander Rakesh Kumar Mishra and Anil Ranway, Agartala special branch, these raids were conducted.
After ending this successful raid, SDM furiously expressed that the entire sub-division is floating on various contraband items. A section of youths and school going students are bitterly addicted to these narcotic items. With an effort to prevent the drug addiction, the administration will keep continuing anti-drug raids in different corners of the sub-division, he added.
Besides, the SDM warned the hemp cultivators saying that if anybody cultivates ganja then he will destroy the entire ganja land and will lodged a specific case against the land owner. In case of forest department’s land, the foresters of that concern area have to show the cause, said Das.
