AGARTALA, April 30 (TIWN): Tension prevails after a Hindu temple was attacked at Bansul village at Damachara under North Tripura District. Thousands of Hindu protesters came on road after the incident took place.

Presently a coconut has been put on Shiva's beheaded body and from local authorities the full replacement of Shiva's idol have been promised but resentment of Hindus could not be resolved with their words. Villagers have termed the incident as 'Amangal' (demonic incident). Such an incident never occurred in Tripura earlier, but chronological incidents of last 2 weeks shows that the grudge against  BJP for their attempts to stop cattle smuggling has been the chief reason behind it. On the other hand police till now unable to find out the accused behind this activity.

Shiva is one of the principal deities of Hinduism. He is the Supreme Being within Shaivism, one of the major traditions within contemporary Hinduism and thus beheading of Shiva was condemned by  Hindus as well as true religious persons from every religions.

With the Assembly Election-2018 is coming closer and saffron's increasing power in India's various parts has created much tension among a major section of people. It was in the month of March that a Hindu man was killed and 11 injured seriously in a clash at the same District in a clash among Hindu and Muslims at Padmabil, Panisagar subdivision. The attackers allegedly also raised 'Pakistan Zindabad' slogan following which 2 persons were arrested by Panisagar Police. Villagers also sent a letter to PM Modi in this regard.

However, after today's incident a restless situation have been emerged across Northern Tripura. Security has been beefed up to maintain the peace at there.
