Tripura Police Team Footballers Suspended, Team Disbanded, Departmental Action  soon

Agartala, Oct 4 (TIWN): Tripura Police suspended all 15 police men involved in assault and ruthless violence - Departmental Action to be initiated soon. They are banned from playing football. The team is disbanded. Police HQ sent out an official press release. As per Govt. - This is an aberration.Tripura Police stands committed to high standard of discipline and public service. Chief Minister Manik Sarkar held a meeting earlier in the day with Chief Secretary Dr Sanjay Kumar Panda and Director General of Police Mr C. Balasubramaniam and reviewed the incident.

Taking a serious note of yesterday’s hooliganism at Umakanta  ground the entire Police team has been dissolved.  Stern actions were taken against the errant police personnel for physically assaulting linesmen and referee during a football match yesterday at Umakanta ground, by DGP, C. Balasubramanian. This was informed by a press statement here on Friday from Police Headquarter.

      The statement further added that 15 personnel who were reportedly involved in the incident are suspended, departmental enquires against those 15 police personnel are initiated for their misconduct. The existing Police Football team which involved in the incident has been dissolved and there will be no football team from State police for 2 years. Besides all the suspended police personnel, who were members of the football team, will not be allowed to play football math on behalf of State police in future. Also it said that the incident was an aberration and the entire department was very sad over the unfortunate incident.Tripura Police always stand for highest standard of discipline and for rendering dedicated service to the people of Tripura

     Meanwhile, Director General of Police C. Balasubramanian took serious note of Police football team’s ‘hooliganism’ at Umakanta ground on Thursday. Talking over telephone he said, “I am disappointed with the behavior of police football team yesterday and condemn this kind of behavior, in the strongest possible terms. What we saw on Thursday afternoon at the Umakanta   Stadium is completely unacceptable and cannot be tolerated,” 

    After the defeat of police team against Lal Bahadur at the Umakanta ground, the footballers of Police team unleashed a ruthless violence to express dejection over defeat blaming the match officials.

  The condition of Shivajyoti Chakraborty, also a former national referee, and linesman Jayanta Roy was described as serious.

  All sections of people throughout the state welcomed and praised the exemplary punishment taken over the ‘hooligans’ in the name of players.Mentionably linesman Jayanta Roy had to be hospitalized in a serious condition due to the brutal and inhuman attack by the Police footballers.

 We vehemently condemn the reported attack by some Police personnel on the linesmen and referee followed by Football Match between Lal Bahadur Club and Tripura Police at Umakanta Ground, Agartala on 03-10-13. We feel very sad about such unfortunate incident. We are always against the misconduct as exhibited by those police personnel.
 
        The following stern actions, including disciplinary action against those errant Police personnel are taken.
 
1)   15 police personnel who are reportedly involved in the incident are suspended. 
2)   Departmental enquiries against those 15 police personnel are initiated for their misconduct – unbecoming of Govt. servant etc.
3)   The existing Tripura Police Football team which involved in the incident on 03-10-13 has been dissolved and there will be no football team from Tripura Police for 2 years.
4)   Those Police personnel, who were members of Tripura Police Football team, will not be allowed to play football match on behalf of Tripura Police in future.
