AGARTALA, March 28 (TIWN): 1 more day has to wait for 10,323 teachers' case's final hearing, Law Secretary Datamohon Jamatia told TIWN. Much controversial Tripura's 10,323 case was placed before the SC on Tuesday morning and till 4 PM hearing was going on. The divisional bench chaired by Justice Adharsha Kumar Goel and Uday Umesh Lalit heard a petition filed by advocate Salman Khurshid. On Govt side there was Advocate P P Rao and on behalf of 10,323 Lawyer Rajib Dhaon was present. It's worthy to mention here that during hearing Tripura Law Minister Tapan Chakrabory took shelter in Secretariat and after trying multiple times, he didn't pick up any call from media. On the other hand thousands of call are receiving in TIWN Office for update since the morning, revealing the high tension among the hapless teachers.

However, Datamohon also mentioned tomorrow within 1 PM the verdict may be heared.

Reportedly, in total 10,323 teachers' jobs were cancelled by Tripura High Court in 2014 on May 7 after spotting irregularities in the recruitment process following a section of deprived qualified youths for the posts. A division bench of the high court, comprising Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Swapan Chandra Das, had passed then order May 7 terminating the jobs of 10,323 school teachers after Dec 31, citing irregularities in recruitment.

Tripura govt moved to Supreme Court when High Court cancelled the jobs of 10,323 teachers’ jobs in 2014 May 7, as the jobs were given without going by rules of recruitment policy. High Court further ordered the state Govt to fill up the vacancies within December that year, which led the state govt to take Teachers Eligibility Test (TET).

In 2014 the Apex Court stayed High Court's order to terminate the jobs of at least 10, 323 teachers and allowed them to continue their service until the final disposal of the case.

On March, 2017 in a major jolt for Tripura Govt SC Divisional bench chaired by A K Goel and Uday Mesh Lalit had denied to delay the case further and said that the next hearing will be on March-28.

Now state is eagerly waiting for the final hearing.
