Extratropical storm caused cyclone across India, North Pakistan :  NE Tripura witnessed heavy damages, 1 died

AGARTALA, March 25 (TIWN): The 'Western Disturbance' (an Extratropical storm) as an upper air system persists over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir, affected Tripura badly. Many people injured at whereas at Agartala Abhoynagar after a tree fall over two women one died named Alo Rani Jamatia. Its induced cyclonic circulation is marked over Central Pakistan and adjoining West Rajasthan. Reportedly an east-west trough is seen extending from Northeast Madhya Pradesh to Assam. Also a feeble cyclonic circulation is seen over Coastal Karnataka. A trough is extending from this system up to Southeast Arabian Sea. The cyclonic circulation North Bangladesh and adjoining Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Power cut have been reported from many places including road blockage due to landslides, damages caused to trees and local shops. In the last 24 hours, scattered rain and thundershowers were recorded over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Assam. Mainly dry spell was observed over most parts of the country Both maximum and minimum temperatures have increased across Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, Gujarat and East India.

Major cities of Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai continues with warm and humid day conditions.

Scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely to reduce significantly over Sikkim, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Nagaland. Isolated rains may also occur over Kerala and South Coastal Karnataka. Isolated dust storm activity may occur over parts of Rajasthan. No major change is expected in the existing temperature profile across the country, barring parts of East India that could witness some rise.

It's worthy to mention here that Western Disturbance is an extratropical storm originating in the Mediterranean region that brings sudden winter rain to the northwestern parts of the Indian subcontinent. It is a non-monsoonal precipitation pattern driven by the westerlies. Extratropical cyclones, sometimes called mid-latitude cyclones or wave cyclones, are low-pressure areas which, along with the anti-cyclines of high pressure areas, drive the weather over much of the Earth. Extratropical cyclones are capable of producing anything from cloudiness and mild showers  to heavy storms and lightning. 

Paddy fileds have been washed away and many houses were damaged badly.
