UDAIPUR, July 8 (TIWN): The power generation from the Unit-I of the OTPC's 726.6MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine(CCGT) Thermal Power Project in Platana has begun from early morning on Tuesday( around 3.45am), said a top level OTPC engineer over phone on Tuesday evening. After an almost whole night operation the Gas Turbine experts from General Electric Comapany's Kerela unit led by Orgis Kuruvilla solved the ongoing problems. And thus ends the four days long power shortage across the state. Meanwhile a top level OTPC official confirmed on Tuesday night that the Major Inspection of the Gas Turbine will go on as per scheduled programme.

The fifteen days long inspection will begin on 3rd August and is expected to be completed on 18th August provided that everything goes well.

An OTPC engineer told TIWN correspondent over phone, " Power generation resumes in the plant from 3.45am and it is really a matter of relief that Orgis Kuruvilla solved the problems due to his hard labour in less than 10 hours time. He began his inspection at 10.45pm on Monday night and with the istructions given from General Electric Company's Headquarters in Atlanta the Gas Turbine experts were able to solve the problem."  It is to be mentioned here that the USA based General Electric is the only major manufacturing company of Gas Turbines. And as per the latest updates from TIWN sources the current generation from the Unit-I is 350MW(as of 7.20pm Tuesday).
