DM West directs to deposit fire-arms

Agartala, July 8 (TIWN): With an effort to make the forthcoming three-tier Panchayat election and by-election of ward no- 11 under Ranirbazar Nagar Panchayat violence free in the state, the District Magistrate (DM), West- Abhishek Singh in an order directed to deposit all the licensed fire-arms and gun-powder to avoid any kind of aggression before and during the election. The DM West ordered to deposit all the fire arms and gun powder to the local police stations.

According to the order issued by the DM West, all the fire arms and gun powder has to be submitted by July 09. It was also mentioned in the order that if anybody violates the order strict action will be taken against that person as per the Arms Act- 1959.

As per the order issued by the DM, all the fire arms will be returned after the election. This order will not be applicable for the police, CPMF, armed force and armed forest guards. This order will be applicable till the conclusion of the three-tier Panchayat election procedure.

If fire arms and gun-powder found to anybody after July 09, then the person will be responsible as accuse and all the fire arms and gun-powder will be seized.

On the other hand, according to the 174 (K) section under Tripura Excise Act- 1990, the District Magistrate, Sipahijala- Parshanta Kumar Goya ordered to keep close all the wine shops under Sipahijala district on July 13 to July 15 and July 18.

With an endeavor to maintain peace, law and order under Sipahijala district during the polls, the DM also circulated an order under section 24(i) of Tripura Excise Act- 1987 that these days will be considered as ‘dry day’.
