AGARTALA, March 6 (TIWN): The continuous rain with thunders since long 12 hours heavily disrupted normal lives in Tripura and other NE states. The sudden rain falls have downed the temperature much here in Tripura too. The cloudy weather is expected for next 1 week long. Vehicle movements have been disrupted, crops have damaged in some parts of the state. Sabroom-Agartala’s National Highway’s condition has turned a bad shape. As per the Weather Dept. this year the rainfall will be more than the previous year in this NE zone. Since the start of March, scattered rain has been going on over many states of the region. This activity is likely to continue over Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh for next week. By the next weekend, we can expect rainfall to increase significantly over Northeast states of India. This increase in the intensity of rainfall can be due to the development of a prominent trough over West Bengal and Northeast states around March 10 & 11.Moisture feed will be available in the form of strong winds from Bay of Bengal; therefore moderate to heavy showers are expected over most parts of Northeast states between March 11 and 12.

It will be okay to say that this rainy spell will be the first heavy spell over entire Northeast states this year.

Though on and off good rains were going on over the region but such weather activity was localized. This forthcoming rainfall activity will be widespread covering all the states of Northeast states.

However, Northeast India is famous for being one of the rainiest regions of the country. And even with the less rainfall all through the first two months of the year, rainfall activity did not abate the region completely.
