'DHARNA' or 'DRAMA' ? CPI-M backed bankers to standstill Banking Service protesting Centre's Banking & Economic Policies

AGARTALA, Feb 25 (TIWN): By hook and crock, the Left Front Unions would continue their protest against Central Govt's various policies. Whereas Tripura Govt has failed to generate employment in state; neither it could implement Central scale's pay structure for the state govt employees, but raising voice against the Centra's Economic Policy CPI-M backed bankers to disrupt all banking transactions on Tuesday; which may halt the smooth going of banking service and other developmental works. Reportedly, the bankers under United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) held hour-long protest against Central Banking and economic policy and declared that they will halt the bank service on Feb 28. As assumed, the left front party is strategically holding various protests for long 1 month and all the protests have begun against the Centre. CPI-M State Secretary Bijan Dhar said on Feb 22 that Tripura Left Front party to kick off many protests from this month to March. In this 1 month long protest, there will be atleast 500 protests staged through rallies and pubic gatherings.

However, issuing demonetization the banks will be halted on Feb 28, which has already created huge resentment among the customers.

Normal banking operations like cash withdrawal, clearance, opening of bank accounts would be hit on Wednesday due to 1 day bank strike called by the United Forum of Bank Union (UFBU) to press for wage revision, other demands.

Near about 10 lakhs official and clerks to join the strike from all over India.

In the same way on November, 2016 banking operations in Tripura were hit as more than 800,000 employees went on a day's strike to seek a salary hike and other benefits, union officials said.The strike was total in some 75,000 branches of 27 state-run banks, as also the 25,000 branches of 18 private and eight foreign banks across India, said Vishwas Utagi, senior vice president of the All India Bank Employees Association. In the state capital Agartala, there was no attendance in the banks and a group of employees were resisting customers to use the ATM (Automated Teller Machine) facility .

This time the strike will be held on Tuesday, which will hit the customer once again.
