11 NREGA workers injured in Tripura out of communal clash : security tightened, SP North talks to TIWN

AGARTALA / PANISAGAR, Feb 24 (TIWN): Atleast 11 NREGA workers were injured at Padmabil Village (Panisagar) when a communal clash between local Hindus and Muslims had developed, regarding a land issue. However, talking immediately to SP North Manik Das, he said, "This incident was actually developed from land disputes regarding a road construction in that village and a violent clash occurred among the locals which left atleast 7 to 8 people seriously in injured". He also confirmed that the situation is fully under control and no communal issue was there. TIWN eye-witness from Dharmanagar hospital reported that presently 6 people are admitted there in critical condition. The injured people at Dharmanagar hospital are : 1) Ajay Kr. Das (65), 2) Krishna Kanti Sharma (40), 3)Nani Gopal Das (39), 4)Ashim Das (32), 5)Kalika Ranjan Das (50), 6) Amalendu Das (60). A huge number TSR, Police are presently in duty at Dharmanagar hospital and also at Panisagar's Padmabil village.

The victims at Dharmanagar hospital claimed that atleast 100 Muslim locals had attacked upon them with local arms in hands and left them injured. However, asking the SP he said that nothing was like that but it was a clash emerged between the villagers.

The victims will also lodge FIR at Panisagar, but presently Doctors have restricted the police and other people from talking the victims much.

Doctors who were in off duty also rushed to Dharmanagar hospital after they had been reported about this incident.

Panic has gripped Dharmanagar, Panisagar following this incident. Source informed that there are much more chances of further violence in that areas. Police, TSR will do all night duty at Padmabil village.
