AGARTALA, Feb 23 (TIWN): Whereas in other states there is no demand for NREGA days as it pays very less in compare to the public and private works, Tripura’s jobless, workless conditions have bound the poor to beg works under NREGA. A recent survey revealed that NREGA work has lost its popularity due to its less payments and irregular wages or delay of providing wages but instead of high commodity prices, Tripura CPI-M is begging for double NREGA days so that poor can survive, which is nothing but is an attempt to secure the vote banks of CPI-M with Central fund. Infact Bijan Dhar, CPI-M State Secretary himself agreed to the fact that in other states there is no craze for NREGA works and Govt gives the project under traders. However, eventhough the state govt claims about 97 % literacy rate but this is the same state which has no option for work.

Tripura once known as the land for agriculture and 85 % people were dependent on it but today, state is running with all imported items. There is no productivity and the Agro-based economy has been collapsed under CPI-M Era.

However, the party has discovered another way to prevent the losses. The party has sought  recommendation from the Centre to buy all the items in double price from the farmers during losses.If the cost of grain production is Rs. 18, it must be bought by the Govt with Rupees 27 per Kilo.

Moreover, CPI-M has accused NITI Aayog for creating all the problems whereas NITI Aayog at the very first clarified that centre can not push a state permanently and state should stand up on its feet; but till day the CPI-M Govt has failed to make a finance commission so that it can enjoy 90 : 10 fund sharing.

Instead of various suggestions given by Centre, to promote bamboo plantation, tourism..Tripura Govt is acting just a fund receiver from the Centre. As a result the jobless, workless condition has gripped state Tripura.

In this situation whereas due to various corruptions across state govt’s depts. Unemployment toll has spiked up, Tripura ruling party sought 200 days NREGA works.
