AGARTALA, Feb 19 (TIWN): Amidst State-Central fund allocation debacles, the Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers, Sudarshan Bhagat said on Sunday said that Tripura Govt shares 10 percent of the fund in agriculture, whereas the Centre is bearing 90 %. “With the aim to double the farmers income, Modi Govt has kept the budget farmer and rural friendly and for Tripura it has atleast 10 projects”, Bhagat said. ‘Let’s make NE an organic hub for production….’, said Union Minister. He also claimed that there are huge opportunities for growth and this is the time to utilize the agro-based environment as PM Modi has given his special focus to Northeast zone.‘The budget 2017-18 pitched for more reforms in agriculture marketing and increased funds for insurance and irrigation schemes’, Bhagar added.‘PM Modi has targeted doubling farm income by 2022.It’s a promise that the income of the farmer to raise into double within 5 yrs. Proper utilization can restore the economy of agriculture in the NE zone’, Bhagat added.

Sudarshan Bhagat in his 3 day long visit is to inspect the proper utilization of Central funds under Tripura Govt. He already has laid foundation stone of Seed Processing cum Storage Unit at Lembuchera’s ICAR Research complex.

He addressed the media at Dasarath Deb Memorial at the evening and urged the farmers of Tripura through media for utilizing Modi Govt’s various projects brought for farmers. The Minister also claimed, “Earlier, it was only Krishi-Kalyan yojna, but Modi Jee has added farmers with it with the title of ‘Krishi & Kalyan Yojna’.

‘The Modi Govt is poor people’s Govt and the budget itself is evidence of it’, Bhagat said.

Tripura BJP Vice President Subal Bhowmik criticized the Tripura Govt for misusing of funds and its negligence in developmental works.
