AGARTALA, Feb 19 (TIWN): The State-Centre relation is now under heavy challenges as the non-utilized funds under Tripura Govt is disappointing the Central Govt. Either it’s SC / ST Welfare Dept. or Health Dept unutilized funds are reporting from everywhere, which led the Central Govt to slash funds in various projects for Tripura. Such an embarrassing situation for the Govt of Tripura had created, when the Union Health Minister J P Nadda asked Minister Badal Choudhury why Tripura Govt is not expensing the allocated-fund for developments. In a mocking tone the Minister said, ‘Please expense the money. Central Govt now a days are pushing the state govts to expense the fund. It has been seen that after the fund is allocated, it stays at the treasury for 3 months and then it goes to the dept under state govt. Now think, what is the situation across the year. If there are 12 months, then for every fund utilization it needs 3 months”.

He also mentioned, “…..when it comes about PWD development, the state govt is unable to decide the building construction… please whatever design you like take it…but hurry up the project”.

It’s worthy to mention here that various dept in Tripura including MGNREGA are found with heavy set of unutilized funds.

NITI Ayog dashboard is upsetting CPI-M in Tripura as it has found out the actual utilized fund.Reportedly, due to NITI Aayog out of 1000 crores only 500 crores fund were slashed under SC / ST fund as 40 % of the fund remained non-utilized.

The MGNREGA fund slashing and other deduction funds under NITI Aayog also has upset the CPI-M Govt.

However, the Central Minister said, not only Tripura but this is the condition of many states in India, which is halting the region’s development.
