First ever visit of Central Health Minister in Tripura after 70 yrs of independence : ‘Northeast is first priority when it comes about development’, says Minister

AGARTALA, Feb 18 (TIWN): After 70 years of independence it’s the first time that any Central Union Health Minister is visiting state Tripura. As a part of vaccination programme the Central Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Saturday has administered Rota Virus vaccines to the children of Tripura. The Union Health Minister in his one day visit in Tripura has launched the Rota Virus Vaccination Mission in the presence of Tripura Health Minister Badal Choudhury and other Health Dept Officials under both State and Central Govt. In this regard a programme was organized by Nation Health Mission where Nadda himself administered the vaccine to the first child of Tripura. Nadda after launching the programme said, ‘It’s a historical moment and thanks goes to PM Modi for his attention for Eastern India’. ‘I am feeling proud to present here as the first Union Health Minister of India. Fact can’t be denied that the NE region was neglected untill the Modi Govt came at power. But in this state, we are working for the prevention part….as nothing is better than prevention when it comes to health.’, the Minister said.

‘After March 2016 Rota Virus Vaccination Mission kicked off across Himachal Pradesh, Andra Pradesh, Odissa; this year the Mission will cover Tripura, Tamilnadu, Madhya Pradesh, Assam. The Central Govt selected the venue in Tripura to let the country know, NE is out utmost priority’, Nadda added.

‘Under the present Central Govt, the death rate of children has been decreased tremendously and with the help of the State Govts it can be more effective’, said Minister.

'Rota virus is one of the chief reasons behind diarrhea and it spreads very fast. Thus the vaccination is very much important to save our children’, he added.

‘I know hills have connectivity problems. But please take this mission as a missionary activity’, Nadda told the Health Dept. of Tripura.

However, the Union Health Minister expressed displeasure about the non-utilized funds remained under Tripura Govt. Also he asked, why after allocation of funds, for 3 months the fund remain under treasury?

Nadda further urged the Health Officials to create a ‘Healthy Child, Healthy Mother, Healthy India’ with full dedication.
