AGARTALA, Feb 17 (TIWN): The opening day of the 15-day-long budget session of the Tripura assembly witnessed ruckus over alleged corruption in the Left Front-ruled state. When Governor Tathagata Roy sought to read the first and last pages of his prepared customary speech, the opposition began protests. Opposition legislators Ratan Lal Nath, Sudip Barman, Gopal Roy, Pranjit Singha Roy and others referring to scams in government spending, urged the governor to read the entire speech. The opposition legislators, led by opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman, rushed to the well of the house when the governor asked Nath to go out of the house for making noise. Thus on the first day a chaos created at the Assembly by the opposition leaders of Tripura even before the Governor completed his speech. However, in a question about Journalists accreditation card, the Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha replied to Sudip Barman that Tripura Govt is looking after the accreditation card of journalists. The Tripura Budget Assembly will continue upto March 15.
However, as per report the discussion will be held on various budget related issues. MLA Pranjit Singha Roy to raise the issue of unemployment and the age limitation of the job unemployed youths. Dibachandra Hrankhol to raise the Rose Valley topic and when the investors will get back their money.
CPI-M MLA Lalit Debbarma’s demand will be linked with SC / ST fund allocation & on Feb 20, Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha will place budget 2017-18 at the Assembly.
The Chit fund issue in Tripura is now the pick issue for opposition’s discussion . Especially the Rose Valley scam which looted multi crores from the common people, left without proper investigation. However, in the last Assembly Manik Sarkar in a reply to opposition MLA Sudip Barman said, “Please hold for sometimes more, we have to figure out the whole amount which has been looted by the chit fund companies from the common people”.
