Agartala, June 30 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today reviewed the ongoing projects under Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) at the conference hall of civil secretariat.
During the meeting, the urban development department informed that the construction for cover drains and other drains in the five zones under AMC are in progress. Altogether, 121 Km sewer will be constructed in the city areas. For that Rs 216.75 crore had been estimated as project cost. The constructions are going on from the allocated fund of thirteenth finance commission. But as of now only Rs 20 crore has been allocated from the Centre while about Rs 50 crore already spent for the creations.
The Chief Minister directed to the secretary of the concern department to hold a meeting with all the construction organizations and to make a speculated time for the completion of constructions. The chief minister also directed to complete the reform works for Dimsagar and the other water body (pond) situated at Melarmath before Durga Puja.
With the financial assistance of Asian Development Bank (ASD), construction for new Water Treatment Plant, deep tube-well and pipe lines are in progress in the five zones of the city. The department has taken this initiative with an endeavor to supply purified drinking water to the city dwellers.
The chief minister told to the concern department to review the National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) scheme properly, which was recently launched by the Centre with an effort to provide employment in the state. Besides, various development works were reviewed in the meeting.
The Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation- Dr Prafullajit Sinha, Minister for Urban Development Department- Manik Dey, Chief Secretary- SK Panda, Secretary of Urban Development Department- Ashutosh Jindal, delegates of NBCC and HSCL (construction) and the other officials of the department attended the review meeting.
