Agartala, June 29 (TIWN): All election personnel engaged in the coming three -tier were asked to make sure they didn’t fall ill from malaria. An order was issued to the District Election Officer (DEO) to instruct strict maintenance of the prescribed preventive medical course for malaria.
State Election Commissioner Yatendra Kumar recently said that while the health department is undertaking all necessary steps to contain the malaria epidemic that cost 53 lives till date according to the official records, the commission is trying to make sure that its poll personnel didn’t contact the disease.
Poll personnel engaged for the Old Agartala block in West Tripura district was held at Khayerpur on Sunday. A total of 566 personnel participated in the mock exercise alongwith 51 presiding officers.
The Old Agartala Block happens to have the highest number of uncontested seats in Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samity bodies.
Mock poll exercise was held in the Kadamtala block on Saturday. 668 personnel participated in the exercise headed by Block Development Officer (BDO) and returning officer for Kadamltala block on the day, an official communiqué said Sunday.
