Panic grips Tripura after bus accident hits 3 persons : 1 spot dead, 3 seriously injured, referred to Silchar Hospital

AGARTALA, Feb 15 (TIWN): Tension has gripped North Tripura after 3 persons met a terrible accident during morning walk time at 6.30 AM on Wednesday. Reportedly, due to the reckless driving this tragic incident occurred, which has killed one named Bhabna Sant, W/O-Sourav Sant (2). More 2 persons are presently admitted in serious condition at Silchar Hospital. The deceased have been indentified as : Suressh Sant (55) and Jayashree Sant (45). This incident created much anger on the spot and the local people had beaten the driver named Khokon Shil tightly. Khokon Shil immediately was taken to Panisagar Hospital. Later the doctors had referred him to Dharmanagar Hospital. This incident has raised question over the security of the pedestrians in Tripura. Reportedly, no traffic remain present at the morning time across the state, which results into such terrible accidents.What surprises is that during the 28th Road-Safety week observation, DGP K Nagraj said, “Tripura’s accident rates have drastically decreased, whereas the number of deaths have increased here”. In clarification of accident-rate Nagraj also said, “… the deaths have many causes as reckless driving & giving medical relief in time”.

However, Nagraj further said that at Supreme Court also it has been clarified that if a person takes an injured man to hospital for the sake of saving his life the helper will not be come under police investigation. ‘Against his / her will no question will be asked by police’, Nagraj said.

Citing example of latest the accident occurred at Amtali when a scooty was collided with a huge truck which killed Debashish Debbarma & Ganguli Debbarma, Nagraj said due to reckless driving of the youths they died.

But what about the traffic arrangement across state which has killed 1 today ?
DGP earlier said that the number of police is very less in Tripura. So police can not remain present everywhere.

The survey says since the new year’s beginning the accident rats are massively increasing in state.

1.     On January 15 a maruti van TR01F2011, on losing control bumped into a rickshaw and a bicycle. In the incident, rickshaw puller, two persons in the rickshaw and two persons in the maruti van were wounded.

2.     On the same day January 15 at about 11.30 AM, one Samar Dey (30), S/O Sri Sachindra Dey of Charganki, PS-Khowai was proceeding towards Khowai by driving a vehicle bearing No.TR-06-0364 (Maruti) and while reached at Cherma met an accident dashing a tree.As a result driver of the vehicle namely Samar Dey sustained grievous injuries on his person and was shifted to Khowai hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

3.     A young man named Bapi Nandi age 33 years was dashed by a scooty. The incident took place on Jan 15 at Tepania, R.D Block.

4.     On 4rth January, 1 killed, 7 injured : The accident held on the National Highway when an auto bearing number : TR052429 hit by the truck numbered :AS11AC3841. All of a sudden the hapless people sitting inside the auto became critically injured among them the drived died on the spot. The driver has been identified as Uttam Debnath (34).

5.     On Jan 5, two persons died in a road accident at Amtali just on Thursday. The accident held when a scooty was collided with a huge truck at 2 PM. Debashish Debbarma & Ganguli Debbarma are the two hapless deceases have been identified who died in that fatal accident.  

Apart from that more 2 deaths held at Amtali. Day by day the increasing accident rates has created tension among the citizens here.
