AGARTALA, Feb 9 (TIWN): With the notice of Central Health Minister Harsh Vardhan’s arrival on January 18, Tripura Health Dept. has woken up from deep slumber. Just on Wednesday Tripura Police arrested atleast 50 Congress supporters from Unakoti hospital premises after they demanded 100 % indoor service in that Hospital. Surprisingly, Tripura Health Minister in an attempt to cover up the issue not only along with his team visited the Hospital for the first time, but also announced about 100 % indoor service at the Hospital. The Dist Hospital although was inaugurated by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar before 4 years, but no infrastructure was provided to the hospital premises. Anyhow few machines were illegally transferred from Subdivisional Hospital to the Dist Hospital. But all of a sudden, without any prior notice. Tripura Health Minister Badal Chowdhury announced 100 % indoor service from Thursday.

The number of doctors are presently 18, whereas special doctors are not there. As a result the 100 % service has remained just for ‘show-off’ there. Moreover, TIWN Kailshahar correspondent informed that after the Minister completed his visit at the hospital and met the patients, he told media that on 18th February the Central Health Minister Harsh Bardhan is scheduled to arrive in Tripura.

He also mentioned about the urgent necessity of special doctors at Unakoti Dist Hospital for better Health Service.

Kailshahar source said that when the Dist Hospital began all the doctors from the Subdiviisonal Hospital were brought in this Dist Hospital and the Subdiviisonal Hospital left just as a skeleton. Machines have also been transferred from there, whereas for both the hospitals separate funds were sanctioned.

Question raised, how within a single day the indoor service has launched whereas since 4 yrs the Hospital left almost.

On Wednesday, demanding a Homeopathic hospital and a Dist Hospital as well as indoor service inside the present Dist Hospital Tripura Pradesh Congress blocked the Kailashahar-Dharmanagar road near the Hospital.

The protest was led by Dist Congress President Badrujjaman, General Secretary Rudhendra Bhattacharjee and NSUI leader Nirmal Malakar. All of them including 50 more protesters were arrested flowing the blockade.

Before 4 years the Dist hospital at Kailashahar was inaugurated by CM Manik Sarkar, after the foundation stone was laid by the then Health Minister Tapan Chakraborty in 2008. Reportedly, for the sake of Super Special Health Service, at Bhagaban Nagar under Kailashahar Central Govt allocated Rs. 15 crores and without infrastructure the Health Service begun on Thursday.
