AGARTALA, Feb 4 (TIWN): Tripura lower courts are burdened with total 1 lakh 48 thousand 275 pending cases, which has been notified by Supreme Court again and again but due to the loopholes in investigation, poor chargesheet and lack of follow ups have left these cases pending for uncertain period of time. In 2008 at Bishalgarh Harishnagar tea garden Sadhan Chowdhury was ruthlessly murdered and the chargesheet was submitted within 3 months since CID took the charge of the case. The main accused of the case was Sadhan Chowdhur’s wife Aparna Chowdhury. After the Bishalgarh police failed to submit proper chargesheet the case was handed over to CID and under Inspector Adhir Das although Aparna Chowdhury threw the sim card in a river, but via Airtel office help CID successfully discovered it was Aparna Chwodhury who was mastermind in that murder. But reportedly, Aparna Chowdhury is doing her regular job and released at free. Although 8 yrs have been passed, but justice is getting delayed here. It’s worthy to mention here that all together 1 lakh 48 thousand 275 pending cases, among them 10,154 cases are civil cases, and criminal cases are 1,38,121.

Recently  High Court Justice T Vaiphei said when Supreme Court notices the figure of pending cases under Tripura lower courts, then it reveals as unsatisfactory, while most of the cases were filed under traffic dept. Pressuring upon the necessity of faster judgement, he said, due to the huge number of traffic cases the Judicial officers are so much burdened that they are unable to focus on serious cases. Apart from that the video recording of evidences and other modern technologies can speed up the justice.

However, out of 36 lakhs population Tripura has around 1.5 lakhs pending cases, which has created question on the security arrangement of the state.

The Supreme Court is disposing pending cases at a faster rate, according to data released by the Ministry of Law and Justice. Moreover, SC is also pushing the states for more actions, but for Tripura there more yet 1.48 lakhs of pending cased in Tripura.
