Sonamura, June 24 (TIWN) : Over 13 persons have fallen sick in the recent malaria outbreak at Sonamura subdivision till Monday. To avert the malaria epidemic, a vital meeting was organised in presence of the minister and district health administrative officials, today. During the meeting, the officials discussed about how to prevent the malaria epidemic in the sub-division.
According to the Health Department sources, a total of 13 persons have afflicted from malaria outbreak till Monday. Among them, three persons entered Sonamura from Udaipur sub-division. They are; Rahima Bibi (Garjanmura), Swapna Das (Matabari) and Joysoyal Kuki (Dhuptali). One person each from Mohanjeg, Dhanirampur, Durlav Narayan, Kamalnagar Nirdaya and Bhadrabadi areas and four persons from North Taibandal are afflicted in the sub-division. They are under treatment now.
With an effort to stop malaria outbreak, special health camps were organised in the 15 villages and the health officials are planning for more health camps in different places including Kaliram, Akhandhepa, Baradepa, Jharjharia and Indra Kumar Chowdhury Para. Out of 17 ADC villages of Sonamura sub-division, different health camps would be organised in every villages. It was decided in the meeting that DDT would be sprayed in the villages and suspected malaria affected areas.
Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs- Sahid Chowdhury, Chief Medical Officer (CMO)- Rajat Bhattacharjee, Sub-Divisional Medical Officer (SDMO)- Debashis Das, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Subhasis Das including many others attended the crucial meeting.
