68th Republic Day : Tripura Governor highlights on ‘Connectivity to boost Economy’; calls for promoting Indo-Bangla relations with Central Govt funded transborder Waterways, Railways & Internet Gateway

AGARTALA, Jan 26 (TIWN): Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy on the occasion of 68th Republic Day urged Tripura Govt to utilize the potentialities of the state and to boost the Economy. “I have full faith that Tripura has much natural resources by which the state can benefited. Tripura has progressed in Literacy rate and now with the initiative of the Central Govt Tripura’s connectivity is upgrading day by day. The Central Govt is giving special focus on Northeast State's upgradation, which is need to be utilized in proper way. I urge for an equal focus of the Tripura Govt regarding this issue”. “Once upon a time the NH-44 was the one and only connectivity option for Tripura's transport. But now the state has been blessed with the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sarak Yojna. More already 3 more National Highways are to be introduced in Tripura. The responsibility of 198 KM long Churaibari-Agartala Highway has been taken from Border Roads Organization and it has been give to Tripura PWD Dept. I myself visited various spots of Assam-Agartala road and now with the joint initiative of Assam Govt and Central Govt the road has been recovered", added Roy.

“Due to the Indo-Bangla good relation under the Prime Ministers of India and Bangladesh now Tripura has Ashuganj port way for export-import. The State Govt will take more initiatives to keep a good trading relation with Bangladesh and will utilize the Central Govt’s every connectivity projects… that’s my deep faith”, added Roy.

Governor also asked the Tripura Govt to transform each and every wooden made bridges into steels or RCC culvert.

“India is now fully connected with rest of India via BG line. The long awaited demand of Tripura people has been fulfilled by the Central Govt and the rest of the tracks till Sabroom will also be completed very soon. Already Udaipu-Agartala Railway service has kicked off and now the state is connected with Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati and Shilchar like big-big stations. The Airport upgardation work has also begun”, said Roy.

“On 23rd March-2016 the Internet Gateway was introduced and 10 Gbps Internet bandwidth already serving across Northeast. Tripura’s 3 courts and 3 jails have been connected with Internet. With all these it can be said whatever is possible, the Central Govt is doing for upgrading Tripura’s connectivity and I hope the State Govt will utilize them all and the Indo-Bangla relation will be handles well”, said Gover.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar was also present at Assam Rifles ground on that occasion.
