AGARTALA, Jan 26 (TIWN): On the auspicious occasion of 68th Republic Day, state Tripura remembered 2 martyrs who dedicated their lives in Kashmir clashes with Pakistan. Shambhu Satmura and Chittaranjan Debbarma’s photos are displayed across Tripura’s schools, clubs and other organizations. Along with the remembrance of the Pre-Independence freedom fighters, Tripura people also remembering those great souls who had sacrificed their lives in Kashmir-battle with neighboring Pakistan.Shambhu Satmura became martyred during the India-Pakistan border in Jammu Nov 23rd. Tripura BSF (107 battalion) jawan, Satmura, 34, was patrolling along the border in the Jamia Wali Gali area of Poonch district when a mine, laid by the Pakistani army on a slippery slope, exploded, killing him on the spot.

Satmura joined the BSF in 2007 and is survived by his father Lt. Shibcharan Satmura (65) mother Beena Satmura (62) elder sister Sima, younger sister Mousumi and wife Shipra Satmura, whom he married four years ago.

After martyr Shambhu Satmura, Tripura lost its another son who has been mercilessly killed by Pakistani militants at Jammu Kashmir’s Nagrota town and he was Chittaranjan Debbarma, resident of Khowai, under Kalyanpur block.  Seven soldiers, including two officers, were killed in a huge terror attack at an army base near Jammu in the town of Nagrota, just 20 kilometres from the border with Pakistan. A group of heavily-armed suicide attackers in police uniforms entered the army base in Nagrota before daybreak with guns and grenades and forced their way in.

They entered buildings where there were army officers' families, which led to a hostage-like crisis, an army statement said.

The attack is reminiscent of January's deadly strike on an air force base in Pathankot, and comes just two months after 19 soldiers were killed by Pakistani terrorists at an army camp in Uri. An officer and three soldiers were killed while fighting the terrorists when they barged into the base around 5.30 am and fired indiscriminately. The terrorists entered two buildings occupied by officers and their families. After several hours, a dozen soldiers, two women and two children were rescued, but in the operation, a second officer and two more soldiers were killed.

On the occasion of Republic Day, when the whole state has been geared up in patriotic fervous, the two great souls were at the same time remembered with due respect.
