AGARTALA, Jan 24 (TIWN): North Tripura’s Assam-Dharmanagar-Bangladesh belt turned into heaven for smugglers as law enforcement agencies actively abetting smugglers. Allegation raised against ASI Partha Saha for controlling all the cash related issues under Dharmanagar PS and backing all the illegal activities in exchange of commissions from smugglers and thieves. Under his observation, the liquor shops remains open for whole night, also rampant theft of FCI products continue at Dharmanagar. Most importantly, ASI is responsible for the massive fuel theft at Churaibari check-post. Reportedly, whereas fuel crisis is hitting the state regularly, but black-marketing of petrol, diesel have no ending at North Tripura. Fuel depots/godowns is mainly located at Durgabari, Dharmanagar, where during the whole year such activities goes on. When the petrol crisis turns worst, then the stored items are sold at high prices. At Dharmanagar massive fuel theft is going on across the whole year but although many news, protests held regarding petrol theft , but police remained mute spectator.
Bribe happy Police and excise officials got all the evidences, pictures and sources of daily smugglings but no actions are taken in exchange of regular supply pf bribes.
Most importantly, ASI is responsible for the massive fuel theft at Churaibari check-post.
Question raises about the role of police,excise officias on duty at North Tripura.
On the other side, the Dharmanagar town has become a den of mafias, drug peddlers and robbers. Due to unholy association of Assam, Siliguri, Bangladesh based smuggling gangs with local CPI-M, CITU leaders, BSF, Police forces, Dharmanagar’s law & order deteriorated over the decade.
Gambling has also been a major problem at Dharmanagar, but it also have remained without any action. Allegations were raised many times that police is keeping mum in exchange of bribes, hence, mafia activities are being conducted before the very nose of police.
Apart from those incidents, murder midnight fire have been common incidents at North Tripura, but when it comes for investigation then Dharmanagar Police will fail miserably.
Day after day recovery of dead bodies has become daily report for the media channels and the newspapers, but the police are unconcerned about it. North Tripura is now turning into a den for smugglers, gamblers and all kind of miscreants due to failing law & order. Dharmanagar Police has in June 25 caught 7 persons red handed who were playing ‘Teer gambling’ in Old Motor Stand area.
After that many raids held at Dharmanagar, but the gambling and liquor business at a rise across North Tripura.
Showing thumb to the police personnel and other security forces, a strong racket of making fake foreign liquor is freely carrying out the extensive illegal business across the North Tripura district for over past few months.
