AGARTALA, June 21 (TIWN): The Tripura CPI (M) state committee on Saturday resolved to hold protest rallies and other protest programmes in local level across the state against the recent decision of the BJP government at centre for raising rail fares.
A meeting of the CPI (M) state secretariat committee was held at the party’s Melarmath based headquarters to assess the current situation of preparation for the coming three tier Panchayat polls. “Most party candidates have filed nomination papers by today. All nominations would be submitted within Monday’, CPI (M) spokesperson Goutam Das said here this evening.
Asked about key decisions of the meeting, he said that the meeting resolved to start a week long protest across all local committees of the party in Tripura from Monday. “We want immediate rollback of the decision”, Das said.
Reiterating the party’s stand on the issue, CPI (M) spokesperson Das said that that the decision initiated by BJP government to hike rail fare across the country by 14.20 percent government ahead of the Parliament has shown the real face of ‘acche din’.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that the saffron camp would offer the country good days ahead if elected to power against the Congress led UPA alliance. In a sharp contrast to their assurances, the BJP led NDA government had assured good days ahead while campaigning across the country for Lok Sabha election. Prices of onion have soared higher by Rs. 10 in less than three weeks. Potatoes and different daily necessities have become dearer, Das said.
On a different context, the CPI (M) spokesperson cleared the air on rumours of internal feuds inside the CPI (M) led Left Front in Tripura and said, “There is no ambiguity here. Few groups are trying to spread rumours. All members of the Front are working in absolute cooperation”, he said.
