AGARTALA, June 21 (TIWN) : The signing of MoU between TSECL and NEEPCO to enhance power generation capacity of three power projects- Rukhia, Barmura and Dumbur has been postponed till first week of next month, official sources confirmed here today.
As per the decision, the MoU was supposed to be inked today in presence of Power Minister Manik Dey, TSCEL CMD SK Roy and NEEOCO CMD PC Pankaj.
“CMD PC Pankaj would not be coming here to sign the MoU as is out of station for another joint venture. Besides, he will be on a foreign trip from June 25 to July 5. We are keeping in touch with him as well as TSCEL authority to fix another convenient date for striking the deal”, said a NEEPCO official.
After signing of the MoU, a joint venture company would be floated involving TSECL and NEEPCO to push the plan. Once the joint venture is formed, it will float a global tender for preparing DPR for three projects- Rukhia, Barmura and Dumbur.
As per the plan, the TSECL will rope in NEEPCO to convert two open cycle power projects into combine cycle mode to enhance power generation capacity of Rukhia and Barmura.
Ruhkhia gas thermal plant’s power generation capacity will be 98 MW from 63 MW after converting it into combine cycle while generation capacity of Barmura will rise to 67 MW from 42 MW.
And, the NEEPCO will enhance the power generation of Dumbur hydro power project from 7 MW to 16 MW after signing the MoU with TSECL.
According to sources, the NEEPCO will stake 50 share of the ‘extra power’ to be generated from three projects- Rukhia, Barmura and Dumbur.
