AGARTALA, Jan 09 (TIWN): Whereas Indira Gnadhi in 1978 failed in her demonetization attempt, the Congress leaders here in Tripura are raising question over Modi’s demonetization and also asked, if Modi is right why Indira Gandhi was criticized. However, It was the night of January 16, 1978 when then Prime Minister Morarji Desai announced the withdrawal of Rs. 1000, Rs. 5000, and Rs. 10,000 notes from circulation, but it was a total failure. Congress women members as a part of protest against demonetization hit Agartala City on Monday showing plates on their hands to symbolize ‘hunger’. A massive rally had began from Congress Bhawan at 12 PM which lead towards RBI office. Before RBI Office at Agartala the members sat on protest with plates on their hands for hours. In this regard former West Bengal MP Sardar Amjad Ali arrived in state on Sunday and also led the women leaders towards the RBI office. During his speech Sardar Amjad Ali said , th with 3 chief aims, which were clearly mentioned by PM Modi.

The aims are : 1) Black-money curbing, 2) Fake currency diminishing, 3) Stopping terrorist funding.

Screaming over ‘Demonetization’, opposition Congress leaders one after one standing before Agartala RBI Branch also accused the present Governor of RBI Urjit Patil for assisting Modi Govt in political and financial gaining.

“People like Mukesh Ambani acting as the chief investor in BJP party funds and that’s why such big shots are given the first priority in any issue and they are kept far from all national problems includingdemonetization”, said Ali.

“No big shot stood in bank lines for money, whereas only the common people had been suffered due to thedemonetization”, he added.

“In the time of Indira Gandhi,  she was highly criticized for creating emergency situations, but this situation is also same…this is financial emergency. Already Rs. 2000’s fake notes have circulated in the market, which has been proven. My question is that which law of India permitted to bring restriction upon the public-money ? Why I can not withdraw more than 24,000 from my account. Whatever RBI has done it’s unethical. “In this 50 days RBI has changed its circular 6 times”,  Ali added.

According to Congress demonetization began as a move against black-money hacking. All moneys have been deposited, but where is black money ?

Earlier, Congress spokesperson Piyush Kanti Biswas talking on the background of protest programme,

“To symbolize the crisis, Congress women members will hold a protest rally here in Agartala on Jan 9" and accordingly the rally was done successfully.
