AGARTALA, Jan 7 (TIWN): In another jolt to Tripura’s ‘golden’ law & order, one SBI ATM machine was looted at the Capital City on Friday night/Saturday morning wee hours even though State’s CBI chartgesheeted DGP continued boastings of police success in Tripura. After 2014, 2015s daring ATM robberies hitting Agartala and other towns across Tripura, State Police failed to protect Bank ATMs, neither succeeded to capture Inter-State robber gangs. Just on Saturday, Tripura DGP K Nagraj said that police cannot be present at every spots, rather the citizens have some responsibilities to the society in crime-reduction, on the same day a State Bank ATM machine was robbed at Agartala’s Chandranpur area, near TATA Company. The State Bank ATM was found miserably broken, whereas any financial loss have not been identified yet. Police is further investigating the case. It has been assumed that during night time the incident held in the City. But question remains if the Law and Order’s condition is to that state, what is going on across the whole Tripura.

Although  as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guideline, it is a mandatory for all banks to provide a security guard, CCTV camera and trigger alarms at all ATMs, but most of the ATMs donot have a security guard and CCTV cameras in Tripura.

Tripura’s Govt who doesn’t have capacity to expense on CCTV cameras, neither it can train the police force well--- has once again proven itself as the most irresponsible Govt.

DGP said that in compare to the population, the number of police is very less, but it can not be everywhere, but in other states police remains atleast before banks and ATMs. Such incidents once again raised question on the law and order of the state.

Day by day crime rates are increasing in Tripura, creating much tension among the common people and the security of the Citizens are on threat.

Except theft cases, Tripura also tops in other areas of crime as crime against women,  murders, rapes, drug business etc. Body recovering has become a common issue at Dharmanagar, Udaipur and many parts of South Tripura, but the ruling govt is happy with the highest literacy rate in state.

During nights the capital city becomes the domain of robbers, thieves, lunatics and in this situation the there is no CCTV cameras also in the city since years.

In broad day light robbers loot money openly, although sometimes thieves are caught with CCTV cameras which are fortunately found in private banks, but around the whole city the CCTV cameras are left damage since many years.

Various murders, ATM looting, robberies held in Agartala, but due to lack of CCTV cameras police has failed to identify the culprits.

It’s worthy to mention here that in Capital City’s Swami Vivekanda Stadium in total 15 cameras, in Police Station 1, Fire Service Chowmuhani 2, Battala 4,  Nagerjala 4, Post Office Chowmuhani 3 and City Centre 3 are not working.

However on February 18, 2015, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar himself said in the Assembly that all the police stations to be provided with CCTV cameras but  presently maximum cameras are left damaged and unused.

In the city more than 30 CCTV cameras are left in ‘non-workable condition’ which increase the chances of crime in the City.
