AGARTALA, Jan 6 (TIWN): State Police fails to understand that not awareness, but public will fall in line, when rules are enforced strictly in a State. “…In India Police are rarely feared, which boosts the crime rate…….”, it was claimed by Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy in Police Accountability programme in the presence of DGP K Nagraj, but all the suggestion given by experts remains without any affect to the Police-Chief of Tripura. Tripura police is more concerned in observing Prayas-meeting, blood donation camps, cycle race---- rather than taking serious actions to minimize the traffic accidents. Whereas due to traffic dept’s negligence, pathetic roadway everyday people are dying here, but on the other hand police are now busy to celebrate “Roads-safety week-2017” across the state.

To conduct a colourful programme at Astabol field, which will project state’s achievement to the centre, from the early morning on Friday amidst heavy fogs the traffic police are preparing parade at there, which will be held on Jan 11 to January 17, in the presence of State heads.

Tripura DGP K Nagraj on Dec 14 said, ‘It’s important to reveal the actually of crime rate as in various media it was uploaded that crime rate is increasing in Tripura’. ‘I will say crime rate has drastically downed in Tripura & it’s going back to the average percentage of 2006. We have surveyed on various states crime rates and gathered data to find out where Tripura stands in crime rate. In accident cases there is a 25 % decreasing rate and in last 2 years no Extremist threat was found”.  However Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy in the same programme as part of reply to Nagraj said, “……the crime rate doesn’t matters on the social aspects, but it depends fully up to the police”.
