AGARTALA, Dec 15 (TIWN): When Tripura’s common men make their houses, they never face any brick, cement crisis, but during Tripura Assembly Winter Session’s 1st day, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar delivered an exclusive reply to the oppositions question on MLA fund based developmental works' slow progress. Sarkar said, “Tripura is facing brick crisis...due to lack of bricks we are unable to proceed many worksâ€. Opposition MLA Biswabandhu Sen said, “It has been seen that every year massively MLA funds are releasing, but in some places not even 20 % of the works are completed and in some places progress is completely 'Zero', due to administration’s poor steps towards developments…What is the reason behind it ?"
Sarkar replied, “Brick-less condition is the cause behind this. From Bangladesh massively bricks used to come here, but those bricks are very small in size. Atleast 19 crores of bricks were brought from Bangladesh, but they all were in small size which can not be imported anymore”.
However, it’s worthy to mention here that many private works are going on in Tripura; but hat time brick crisis issue doesn’t come, but when it comes for MLA fund releasing, then all the issues raise.
Apart from that Biswabandhu also proposed to increase the MLA fund in Tripura. Manik Sarkar said that this is fully a matter of the Finance Dept, and in the next budget session, the matter will be seen.
Opposition also alleged that the police is not doing its proper work at all, resulting biased justice in state from police.
“At Dharmanagar during Durga Puja, many TMC members were victimized during emersion after a clash occurred there. But Dharmanagar police only targeted the TMC boys. What is the reason behind such activities?”, asked Sen.
However, Manik Sarkar fully declined to have any knowledge about this incident.
Apart from that various smuggling issues, demand for proper inquiry and charge-sheets, Depositors' Interests Bill etc were vividly discussed.
A 6 minutes moment of silence were observed remembering Fidel Castro, Joylalita Jayaram and Kanpur train accident victims before the Assembly began.
