AGARTALA, June 6(TIWN): State Election Commissioner Y. Kumar today said an all-party meeting would be held here on June 11 to discuss the 'preparedness' of the panchayat elections, schedule to be held in July. Interacting with TIWN, Mr. Kumar informed that he would hold a meeting with the top brass of the district and block administration on June 8 (Sunday) to review the overall preparedness with regard to the panchayat polls.
He said, "As per the poll preparations, a final assessment needs to be taken from the DMs and SPs on any concerns. Moreover, the DM will remain the SEC's election officer for the district and will have to partake SEC's responsibilities."
Meanwhile, the state election commission reviewed law and order and likely poll arrangements in a meeting with Chief Secretary Dr. S K Panda, DG Balasubramanian and IG (Law and Order) Anurag today at secretariat.
Speaking about the meeting Mr. Kumar said proposed to have 35 locations for strong rooms; it also assessed the situation before going to the main polling process.
Starting from deployment state armed force and polling personnel, the entire preparation up to the booth-level was discussed in the meeting, the district authority will be specifically asked to chalk out detailed deployment plans taking into account available state forces he added.
