Agartala, June 5 (TIWN): In a joint raid operation, BSF and DRI recovered 40,100 bottles of Phensedyl from a mango loaded TATA truck at Teliamura market on NH-44, today.
Based on specific intelligence provided by BSF intelligence branch regarding carrying of huge quantity of Phensedyl, Joint Ops party of BSF and DRI intercepted one TATA Truck bearing the number NL01-L-3092. During the search troops recovered 40,100 bottles of Phensedyl which were concealed beneath Mango cartons in the truck. The market value of which is about Rs. 39,78,600. Later, they seized the vehicle and loaded Phensedyls.
The operation party also apprehended the driver Ranjan Debnath (38), a resident of Roy Colony under Amtali police station and co-driver Tapan Das (28), a resident of the same area. The driver intimated that the above consignments were loaded at Aambagan of Malda in West Bengal and was to be dumped at Rubber Bagan of Jirania near NH-44.
It is pertinent to mention that BSF is carrying out ops against the Phensedyl smugglers throughout the state and during the year 2014, Phensedyl worth crores of rupees has been seized by BSF and other forces. PRO Ajay Kumar, HQ Tripura Frontier BSF informed it in a press release.
