Massive bulk of pending textbook bills, traders seek minister’s intervention

AGARTALA, June 2 (TIWN): The All Tripura Book Sellers and Publishers Association today sought intervention from School Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty over pending bills of textbook supplies in government schools and said the printing & publishing firms were struggling for years for pending bills.

 "The state government is distributing textbooks to students from the BPL section over the past several years. School inspectorates used to purchase these textbooks from members and associates of the Association till date", ATBSPA general secretary Uttam Chakraborty said. Chakraborty added that a large section of the bill pertaining to textbooks purchased for 2012-2013 academic year is still pending.

The Association reiterated in an official communiqué today that the printing and publishing firms were struggling under financial crisis due to pending bills over a period of one and half years. The publishing forum sought personal intervention from the concerned minister over the issue.
