Sabroom to get better power service with World Bank assistance: Power Minister

SABROOM, June 1 (TIWN): To strengthen the electricity service, a special electricity modernization would be implemented in Sabroom sub-division very soon. The Power and Urban Development Minster- Manik Dey informed it in a press conference at Sabroom Revenue Dak Banglow, here today.As a part, the 66KV power substation would be upgraded to 132KV substation. Besides, a proposal is being accepted to establish new power substation at Puang Bari, Manubankul and Satchand area, he added.

 To attend the administrative meeting and to inaugurate the CITU divisional office, Manik Dey went to Sabroom sub-division, today.

“With the initiative of World Bank, the state government have already sent the electricity modernization project to the central government. The project will be implemented after the approval of central government”, said Manik. He also said that the second phase work of Rajib Gandhi Electric Scheme has been started and special initiative has been taken to implement the project. “As per the electricity Act 2003, strict action will be taken to the illegal electric user”, said Manik.

“The 726MW combined thermal power plant of the ONGC Tripura Power Corporation (OTPC) at Palatana is a mega project. According to the routine shut down of Palatana power plant, the state people had to suffer from power cut problem for a short period but the Palatana thermal power plant has been started producing power since last night. As a result, the state people will get relief from power cut problem”, added Dey. The second unit of Palatan power plant would be started by October, he said. The minister also stated that a special modernization scheme has been taken to supply the purified drinking water in Sabroom Nagar Panchayat. MLA Rita Kar Majumder, SDM Rajib Datta also attended the press conference.
