AGARTALA, Sep 26 (TIWN): On the occasion of 196th birth anniversary of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar a statue of the great person has been inaugurated on the heart of Agartala City.
In the AMC organized programme on the birth anniversary of India’s Language great master Vidyasagar--AMC Mayor Prafullajit Sinha, Urban Development Minister Manik Dey, DM Millind Ramteke were present on that great occasion.
Minister Manik Dey inaugurated the programme, whereas AMC Mayor Prafullajit Sinha was the Chief Guest.
The programme progressed with the unveiling of Iswarchandra’s statue at Drop gate area, known as Arundhuti Nagar, Agartala.
That great person was born in 26th September 1820 & died on 29 July 1891
He was an Indian Bengali Polymath and a key figure of the Bengali Renaissance. He was a philosopher, academic educator, writer, translator, printer, publisher, entrepreneur, reformer, and philanthropist.
