AGARTALA, Sep 25 (TIWN): A sit & draw competition was held at Swet Mahal on Sunday ahead of World Tourism day.

NITI Aayog member Bibek Debroy also criticized Tripura’s poor connectivity for responsible to the bad tourism shape in Tripura.

Tripura along with the whole world is celebrating World Tourism Day but Tripura’s tourism in reality has lost its glory due to lack of connectivity, bad roadmap to Unakoti, Dumboor like places.

The World Tourism Day which was started by the United Nations World Tourism Organization in 1980, is celebrated in different countries every year on September 27.

The choice of this day for the event is because the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) had her laws become effective on this date in 1970.

The aim of the celebration is to make people aware of the importance of global tourism by informing them of the significant role tourism plays in a county's economy as well as its effects on cultural and historical values.

The theme for this year is 'Tourism for All – promoting universal accessibility'. Whereas it’s said that millions of tourist means millions of opportunities, Tripura has no opportunity in tourism, under lameluck Tourism Minister Ratan Chakraborty.
