MOHONPUR, Sep 24 (TIWN): Once again Indo-Bangla border smuggling racket has been unearthed when BSF recovered 80 kilo of Ganja from Indo-Bangla border area at Mohonpur. The commercial Ganja cultivation is day by day increasing in Tripura, although it’s banned from whole India. Under DGP K Nagraj Law & Order is in question & state is becoming a paradise for Narcotic business.

Troops of 195 BN.BSF had recovered 80 kgs Marijuana (Ganja) sealed in plastic packed along the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura Gakulnagar sector, an officials said on Saturday.

The Ganja seizure was made in Border Out post(BOP)Durgabari area.BSF officials said alert troops noticed suspicious movement of smugglers in thick vegetated area near the Border Security Force early on Saturday. The Smugglers were challenged but they undulating ground & managed to escape from the spot.

Many subdivisions in Tripura are still griped in such narcotic business.

The Sonamura subdivision (Presently under Sepahijala Dist, Earlier at Mohonpur) is initiating all Ganja business & Cross Border smuggling and people are openly passing via Sonamura border using the free border space led by the rule of mafias at there.

Local auto drivers, with the help of police are using the open path to transfer all illegal items from this country to that country. Ganja is openly cultivating, selling and buying there.

Sources said that there are united Organizations, who is controlling not only the business----but they control Govt administration & even the border fencing works there.

Such organizations are nothing but jointly made by India-Bangladesh smugglers, terrorists, controlling the all economy there. Although phensedyl, ganja all are banned from India, but under CPI-M era the business is rampant at Tripura’s western border.

Even Sonamura is known as the Mini-Pakistan, which was earlier with West Tripura. But the Muslim based subdivisions including Melaghar, Sonamura have been joined by bringing it under new Dist. named Sepahijala --- which had smoothened the way for further narcotic business there.

However, recently North Tripura SP Manik Das, Former Sonamura SDM Subashish Das also told TIWN that Sonamura is just an open town for Bangladeshis. Subashish Das comparing Sonamura with other subdivisions also said, “It’s a unique example in whole Tripura, which is controlled by  Smuggler sponsored Organizations”.

Before 2 weeks, 2 Ganja raids held at Bishalgarh Subdivsion recovered around 1 crores of Ganja. 

The situation started to change in 2014, when the then SDM of Sonamura Subasish Das was transferred for doing his job honestly by destroying over Rs. 100 crores worth of ganja fields. 

Then one Panna Ahmed was made the SDM of Sonamura, who begged his job under his blood relation with Tripura Sports Minister Sahid Choudhury, who was also alleged for Smuggling activity.

Under Panna Ahmed, Sonamura became a hub for Cannabis & Sahid Choudhuy (whose another relative, his Wife’s brother Mamun Mia is a terrorist) was sheltering Ahmed till he was not made the Joint Director in Sports Dept.

However, soon after he became the Joint Secretary of Youths & Sports Affairs he was arrested in rape allegation & presently he is in Jail.

Cannabis is grown on a large scale in interior and inaccessible areas of the region, particularly in Sonamura and Boxanagar and also in many parts of the State. But Sonamura has remained as the den for smuggling, narcotics even Jihadi terrorist under the shelter of long 23 year’s CPI-M Era.
