AGARTALA, Sep 23 (TIWN): In the 3rd Industry Summit organized by FICCI at Agartala Pragna Bhawan,FICCI has published a memorandum which was unveiled by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar titled “Leveraging the Digital Connect Northeastern India”, where it’s clearly written that the region has been unable to develop in line with the rest of India or improve connectivity with neighboring countries. But Tripura IAS offcials Chief Secretary Yaspal Singh and Industry Secretary Nagaraju kept on repeating lies from the first day that Tripura has all required infrastructure for industries. However, in an attempt to help the states to utilize their potentialities, the Look East policy was enacted in the early 90’s. However, the Northeast region vision 2020 was unveiled in 2008, but since 8 years although vision was there, but before Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of India, the ‘Look East’ policy was inactive. When the Look East Policy came in action in Modi Era which Modi re-named ‘Act East’Policy, the CPI-M Govt. in Tripura is having egoistic problem to deal with it.

It was clearly mentioned that the look-east policy is not about funding to the state govts of Northeast, but it is about just to help the Govt. to utilize the potentialities.

Already BG Railway has expanded and roadway is bringing back in better shape. However, without understanding the substance of the Polices, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar had cursed the Policy adopted by Modi Govt & asked to make all the infrastructure for NE by Central Govt. funding.

During the FICCI business meet, experts like Bibek Debroy advised Manik Sarkar that developed states are known for their own powers & the policies, NITI Aayog are here to guide  but the initiative States have to undertake.

By providing Tripura with Broad Gauge Rail, Minister Suresh Prabhu asked CPI-M govt. here to utilize the Railway to boost Bamboo Export business, as Bamboo is one of the major potentialities in Tripura.  But instead of investing anything to improve the infrastructure, with the Railway Export business generated fund, the Chief Minister kept on saying that Northeast has no fund.

CPI-M Govt. here is not aimed for development. To enjoy the central fund for own personal benefit has become a common expectation after the 23 year’s long domination over the state.

So, question remains as the Central Govt. started the Look east Policy in 2008, then  whyManik Sarkar was silent on that time? Why in 2016 he is saying Act East policy Exploiting NE?

In FICCI published memorandum, which was published by Manik Sarkar himself it’s clearly written that the policy will help the states to utilize their “Potentialities”.

From Railway to National Highway, all the infrastructures are for NE Devcelopment. But Central Govt. is not satisfied against Tripura Govt. as State has no desire to utilize the infrastructure.

As a result the Freight trains are coming with goods but returning empty from Tripura without making any business.
