AGARTALA, Sep 22 (TIWN): Tripura CM’s investment summit turned into a damp squib as NITI Aayog member cautioned State Govt from airing false claims of ‘development’. Tripura Chief Secretary Y P Singh criticizing the outside investors said, ‘we tried to manage Industrialists to invest for Tripura, also we gave our time but it seems nobody is interested. “In last June 2nd ,Northeast ASSOCHAM Chairman Sanjay Jhunjhunwala organized a conclave with the coordination of Tripura Govt in this same hall but that time also we told them what potentiality we have, what we can offer to investors. But unfortunately, ACCOCHAM Chief came and gone, even he didn’t bother to give a feedback to us so that we can upgrade ourselves”.Y P Singh continued, “Today also if you do not invest for Tripura, but please give us feedback, so that we can develop ourselves”. Industry Secretary M Nagaraju, Industry Minister Tapan Chakraborty in their very similar speeches talked about Tripura’s so called promising environment from Rubber, Bamboo, Marketing, E Governance, National Highway, Broad Gauge, 2nd busiest Airport, close to sea port-Chitagong port, Power surplus, IT service, busiest check-post, Tea, Gas, Bamboo, CNG, PNG, Hotel, Nursing House, availability of small industry etc.

Both Principal Secretary & Chief Secretary said on 1st of NE Connectivity summit, “Tripura Govt. has been very supportive in Industry growth”.

However, in return during the term of speech delivering by BivekDebroy, representative from NITI Aayog, he said, “The two representatives of Tripuras’ information were incomplete. I, as a member of NITI Aayog disagree with their Information about Tripura”.

Bibek DebRoy asked-------“Do you have Connectivity? Has National Highway Finally done? Has connection with Bangladesh is done fully”? You may have opportunities, but have you utilized it? What is to be happy with highest literacy rate, you can claim but Kerala, Delhi may come first row than Tripura & What do you mean by Education, Men-power? Where Tripura Stands with Delhi ?Labour means Skill, Do you have skill?”

Chief Minister coincidently hired the most inapt retd IAS official S.K.Panda to lead Tripura’s ‘Skill Development Mission’ – which itself is an indicator how Manik Sarkar plans to develop skillsets of lakhs of unemployed youths.

BibekDebRoy continued “Do you have IT? You have biotechnology? You have nothing till day. Why ASSOCAM, nobody will come in Tripura unless you shape it”.

“What interests investors first you have to see. Railway National, Highway all these will be made but what you have now?

Bangladesh is much closer to West Bengal than Tripura because of Connectivity. May be Tripura geographically closer, may be close to NE, but in practical - have connectivity smoothened?

CM, Principal Secretary, Industry Minister everyone’s faces became bleak with such a speech delivered by a NITI Aayog representative.

However, Y P Singh only noted down Bibek DebRoy’sfeedback in his diary even though lameduck CM in return said, “Act East Policy is spoiling the NE India”.

Manik Sarkar not only exposed himself for scrutiny by Central Govt, NITI Aayog (formerly Planning Commission) but Tripura CM was given whitewash by BibekDebRoy for false claims on State’s progress and Industry.

2nd day of summit also turned a flop show for Manik Sarkar as Trpura failed to gain any single investments for State other than bla-all-to-centre political bickerings.
