KAMALPUR, Sep 18 (TIWN): The negligence and reluctance of the Managing Committee turned the century-old Kamaleswari Kalibari to be in the grip of problems.

The Managing Committee became so irresponsible that no meeting was arranged within the period of last one decade. Hence, different matter which should be resolved soon, remained unresolved. Thus the problem intensified more.

The Kamaleswari Kalibari was set on the land donated by a non-bengali merchant Krishna Kumar Bajpai in 1905. The yearly Puja of Goddess Kali was started from 1906.

Around 1960, the sons of late Rasmohan Chakraborty constructed the present temple building. People got firm belief with the Goddess and the temple retained a special place among the devotees.

At present, the temple got some fixed source of income like the selling of fishes from the pond and the monthly fare of the business stalls. Moreover, many people had devoted jewellery to Goddess which remained in tight security in the Treasury. Still, the temple got in some acute problems.

The temple building became weak and needed urgent renovation. Many members of the Managing Committee were deceased. And the income and expenditure of the temple remained suppressed for decades.

Hence the meeting of the Managing Committee became urgent. But, the Managing Committee not held a single meeting within last one decade. Hence, the problems remained the same.

The present Secretary Advocate Tamal Barman and other members seemed not at all concerned about the present condition of the temple. The devotees and the commoners claimed that, the Managing Committee should be active soon because the Kamaleswari Kali temple also became a treasure of history and culture for Kamalpur.
