Mohanpur, May 20: In presence of the hundred of tea workers and small tea garden owners, foundation stone was laid today in the Brahmakunda tea processing factory at Mohanpur sub-division. The Industries and Commerce Minister- Jitendra Chowdhury occasionally laid the foundation stone, today. Altogether Rs 8 crore has been spent for the establishment of Brahmakunda tea processing factory.
In his address, Jiten Chowdhury said that the state government is taking initiative with an endeavour to create source of financial development and employment for the tea workers and tea cultivators. He appealed for not to cultivate robber in the private tea gardens. The state government is trying to establish an auction market to monitor whether the small tea cultivators are getting accurate price for the production or not.
“Not only in tea cultivation or tea industry, the state have been showing the path to the country for the production of various raw materials and industries”, said Jiten. For the development of small industries in the bordering areas, the state government has taken initiative to open four new border markets, he added. By utilising the international border of Tripura including entire north-east, state govt. would create pressure on Centre to extend the industries of the state, he stated.
Special guest of the function, MLA and the chairman of Tripura Tea Development Council- Pranab Debbarma said that beside the extension of tea cultivation lands centering the 56 tea gardens for the development of tea industry, priority was given to them. The welcome address was delivered by the Director of Industrial Department and special secretary- S Agarwal. The executive member of agriculture department of TTADC- Ranabir Debbarma and Sudhamoy Majumder attended the programme as guest of honour. The function was presided over by the chairman of Mohanpur Panchayat Samity- Khukan Debnath.
