Agartala, May 20 (TIWN): Minister Jitendra Chowdhury is supposed to resign on Tuesday evening from state cabinet. A top official source said here today. Mr Chowdhury elected from East Tripura Parliamentary constituency. He is also the member of Tripura Legislative Assembly. Being a senior cabinet minister, Mr. Chowdhury is in charge of Rural Development, Forest, Industry & Commerce department.
A cabinet meeting will be held Tuesday at secretariat building. After that, Mr Chowdhury shall hand over his resignation letter to Chief Minister Manik Sarkar. Accordingly Mr. Sarkar shall send this letter to the Governor and Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly respectively. The ruling left front government also started thinking to fill this post. According to the party sources, ex Tripura Civil Service Officer Mr. Lalit Debbarma is top in the race. Though, the first time Mr. Debbarma elected from Ambasa Constituency. He enters assembly defeating senior INPT leader Mr. Bijoy Hwrankhal. However the matter is yet to finalize in the meeting of CPIM Tripura State Committee. Sources said, with the expansion of State Cabinet, some departments may be reshuffled among the ministers.
