AGARTALA, Sep 4 (TIWN): With Trinamool Congress declared as the National party and also after winning the Singur case, TMC VP Mukul Roy arrived at Tripura on Sunday to rejoice the victory of TMC’s achievement.

However, TMC VP  Mukul Roy arrived at Agartala at 3pm and from Agartala Airport Roy directly left for Udaipur where he addressed a mass gathering.

He is scheduled to return back to Kolkata on Monday.

It is to be mentioned here that after a landslide victory in the Assembly elections in West Bengal earlier this year, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has yet another reason to rejoice as the Election Commission of India confirmed that the party has been granted national status.

The TMC was given the recognition of a national party after it successfully fulfilled one of the several conditions set by the independent body in the Symbols Order, 1968.

Mamta Banerjee-led TMC is now the seventh recognized national party in the country. Others being the Congress, Bharatiya Janta Party, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI[M]).   

Apart from getting recognition of a national party   much-awaited and discussed Singur land case has been settled with the Supreme Court on Wednesdayasking the state government to return 997 acres of land to farmers, who are the original owners, in 12 weeks' time.

The landmark verdict said the land acquisition by then Left government did not follow the rules laid by the Land Acquisition Act 1894, which has now been replaced by a new law in 2013.
