AGARTALA, Aug 16 (TIWN): Agartala Municipal Corporation despite of being in power for past several years could not demolish the Rose Valley building on illegal lands as AMC doesn’t have modern mechanism to demolish building. Although AMC has issued notice to notice to many unauthorised building and also warned that action will be taken against them but AMC's notice have crossed the time limits but so far no action has been taken against the unauthorised building constructed on illegal measures. CBI’s raid over Rose Valley Agartala HQ on March 4, 2015 and sealing the building yet to shake up the CPI-M Govt as Manik Sarkar permitted Rose Valley to construct a massive building on illegal land without permits and necessary clearances. Years have passed since Rose valley Chit-fund corruption came into limelight along with its illegal construction of Rose Valley building, CPI-M run Agatala Municipal Corporation (AMC) is yet to take any major action for demolishing the building.
Although at the first to show off to public, the TSECL & Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) disconnected power and water supply to Rose Valley' building beside Rabindra Bhavan but after that no actions were taken to demolish the building. Even power & water connections were put back.
The AMC issued eviction notice to Rose valley subsequently, the then West Tripura DM Abhishek Singh asked them to vacate the building but Rose Valley did not respond, and neither AMC had taken any steps for demolish the building due to CPI-M’s patronage.
AMC Mayor further said that at present no action is taken for demolishing the building and there is no major initiative for demolishing the building as of now. Question arises why AMC is sitting silent and why there is no action against the illegal construction of the building?
The company was first raided in 2011. According to official figures, the Rose Valley had collected Rs 196 crore during the past three years, out of which an amount of Rs 86 crore has been returned on maturity. The Rose Valley authorities could not give any explanation where the remaining money is. The Kolkata based chit fund company has several branch offices in West Bengal while over twelve thousand agents are working in the ‘down line’.
Rose Valley has no license from SEBI or RBI (Reserve Bank of India) or any statutory authority to do financial transaction or to collect money from the people. However but, this has again marked Chief Minister Manik Sarkar’s alleged promise to the people of the state to invest their money to Rose valley. It is mentionable here that state science and technology minister Bijita Nath earlier was an agent of the Rose Valley group of company.
