AGARTALA, Aug 5 (TIWN): “BSNL providing smooth internet service from August 1st and now onwards there will be no hurdles in network communication. Customers will experience better speed now”, claimed BSNL General Manager Ravi Chandra during a press meet held at BSNL Tripura HQ at Agartala. “From now-onwards there is high speed connectivity from August 1 as the reason behind BSNL’s service outage earlier has been recognized and fixed”. About the commercial Internet gateway operations between India and Bangladesh via BSNL network Ravi Chandra said, “On 27 July last , the10 Gbps bandwidth sharing bill was paid and now there is no pending amounts with the neighboring country”. “Whereas the Present Bandwidth of Internet Gateway is through Bangladesh is 10 Gbps, the maximum Bandwidth used in busy hours(12 to 1 PM) is approx 8.4 Gbps” GM added.

“It was before internet gateway, internet bandwidth  (Media)-1Gpbps X 3 links aggregating 3Gpbs, after Internet Gateway 10Gbps X 1 & 2.5 GX 1 aggregating 12.5 Gbps links ”,GM aid. “Now Agartala to Dharmanagar, Kumarghar and also few NE states including Aizawl along with Kolkata BSNL will expand its high speed 10Gbps network”.

Subscription rate users are now will be available also in Kolkata, Gwahati, Banglade via the IGW(Internet Gateway) Core from Agartala.

About BSNL network elements BSNL said, in Tripura and outside (Tripura), the network infrastructure elements used are :1) In Tripura :  DSLAM, OCLAN, RPR, BNG, MNGT, CORE,  2) Outside Tripura : DNS, AA, LDAP.

About the complains of the customers, ,GM said, “We were trying to find out the gap between the customers and BSNL administration. However, we found that apart from network service there was a huge communication gap between Bangladesh and us.

BSNL GM said that they  have called the press to deliver the message how to keep the speed high with BSNL:

1) Use cables along with Wi-Fi connection

2) Attenuation: Which depends upon the distance

3) Phone-lines coming from outside must be terminated first at ADSL Splitter : Use splitter before connection, do not use landline connection before Splitter.

4) Use Google chrome, Mozilla Firefox

5) Use good anti-virus software

6) Use genuine operating software

7) Use internet security

8) SNR : (Signal to Noise Ratio), Value at downstream must be greater than 10 db internet may work at lower value but  there would be low speed and frequent disconnection

 9) Follow fair use policy : that means even though you have subscribe to an unlimited broadband plan say for example for 4 mbps submitted per month and if your use is very high and crossed a certain cap, say for limit of 30 GB, you speed will be reduced to 512 kbps.

However BSNL GM Ravi Chandra also said, “In total 9000 high speed connections are there already in Tripura and we are trying to expand the connection now, with a better speed”.

India-Bangladesh surplus under-sea internet bandwidth (10 Gbps) sale agreement was signed during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic June 2015 visit to Dhaka in presence of Hon. Bangladesh PM Sheikh HasinaIndia and Bangladesh signed pact on sharing Internet bandwidth as a result of which the submarine cable providing Net to Bangladesh will travel to Agartala from Cox's Bazar via Brahmanbaria.

Bangladesh has agreed to sell off its unused submarine Internet bandwidth to India's state owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for $ 1.2 million ( Rs 7.7 crores) a year.

TRIPURA INFOWAY also held its 2nd conclave in Aug'2015 on this same issue where experts advised how to develop IT and Industrialization after Tripura's distinct honour as India's  3rd Internet Gateway.

Narendra Modi led Central Govt boosted Tripura alongwith NE India's infrastructure connectivity as part of dynamic 'Act East' policy.
